WELCOME
This site is dedicated to providing international marketing professionals with basic data on the dimensions of the consultancy market financed by the multilateral development banks (MDBs). The site includes both the numbers on the market and actual case examples relating to the consulting opportunities financed by the: World Bank (WB) African Development Bank (AfDB) Asian Development Bank (ADB) European Bank for Reconstruction & Development (EBRD), and Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) In fiscal 2007, the five MDBs committed $56.9 billion for projects in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, the Middle East & North Africa, and Latin America & the Caribbean. The MDBs approve project funds for agriculture, education, energy & power, environment, financial, health, industry, legal reform and governance, telecommunications, transportation, urban development, and water supply and sanitation.
All the data in this site are based on actual case examples and on prime sources at the MDBs. Wherever appropriate, links are provided to copyrighted MDB websites and sources. Readers of this site are encouraged to explore these links and become acquainted with the extensive data resources of the MDBs.
Note that MDB fiscal years (FYs) are used throughout this site. The World Bank's fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30, so that the Bank's FY 2009 is from July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009, while the FYs of all the regional MDBs are calendar years. Also note that the "TA" referred to throughout this site means "technical assistance," another term for "consulting services."
