ZEROING IN - WHAT THE MDBs FINANCE IN THE HEALTH SECTOR

The following is the complete list of the subcomponents of MDB Health Sector lending commitments by the specific contents of the 653 projects in DBA's MDB Health Database. The MHD was assembled and copyrighted by Development Bank Associates (DBA) through 2004. The same exercise can be carried out in any sector of the MDB market.

The MDBs finance diverse aspects of the health sector in developing countries. Altogether there are 104 health topics covered within the projects in the MHD, some of which may overlap, shown below by frequency of their inclusion in the projects. For example, just over a third of the projects (35 percent - or over 220 projects) were known to include professional capacity building or training. Over 30 percent of the projects include elements to combat HIV/AIDS.

If there's anything here that looks like an opportunity for you, you may then wish to take active steps to pursue the MDB Health Market. For the final page in the Zeroing Section, on the opportunities in a specific project, click here.

Note that this "Zeroing in" section is meant as an example - the same principles apply to any sector of the MDB market.
