THE WORLD BANK SERVICES MARKET
The World Bank distinguishes between "Consulting Services" and "Services" as follows:
Consulting services, to which the Bank's consulting procurement guidelines apply, are "of an intellectual and advisory nature." These services, also known as "technical assistance" or TA, are the subject of most of the TA pages on this website.
Services are those "in which the physical aspects of the activity predominate," for example for construction of works, manufacture of goods, operation and maintenance of facilities or plant, exploratory drilling, aerial photography, satellite imagery, and other services contracted on the basis of measurable physical output.
